NAVIGATION FOR BEGINNERS

When: Saturday 20th June 2026

Where: Sancreed Village Hall, Penzance, Cornwall

Time: 10.00 to 17.00

Women only

Maximum 6 participants

£65 for the full day

Join us in the lovely village of Sancreed, just outside of Penzance, for a relaxed, hands‑on Navigation for Beginners course, perfect for anyone who wants to feel more confident with a map and compass.

We’ll start with the absolute basics - understanding OS maps, recognising key symbols, setting the map, and using a simple compass bearing - before heading out for a practical session on the beautiful Sancreed Beacon. It’s an inspiring place to learn: wide‑open views, ancient landscape features, and plenty of clear handrails and landmarks to practise with.

The day is friendly, supportive and pressure‑free, giving you the chance to build real skills at your own pace while enjoying one of West Cornwall’s most atmospheric spots.

If you want to to work towards a qualification in the National Navigation Award Scheme, you might prefer to sign up for the Bronze Award course instead.
