Tracing the Moor with Amber the Rambler

My name is Amber - I’m 23, an art grad, and completely obsessed with anything that gets me outside: nature, exploring, rambling, hiking...
In 2025, straight after graduation, I took my mum on a road trip around Scotland. It was the first time I had properly documented my hikes with videos and photos, and something just clicked. Being out on the hills has helped my mental health more than anything else, and I realised I wanted to share that feeling - to lift other people up, the way walking has lifted me.
With the amazing support of Helen at @wild_rambling, I’ve started building my own hiking and creative‑walking journey. My goal is to bring together arty, outdoorsy, like‑minded young women who want to get into nature, slow down, and (when the weather behaves!) sketch, draw, journal or simply breathe for a bit.
I’ve been planning this weekend for ages, and I’m SO excited to finally share the itinerary with you.
Friday
Arrive from 4pm. We’ll meet in the super cosy bar area - squishy sofas, pool table, chilled vibes - for introductions over drinks (BYO, or you can order in advance). Dinner is DIY pizza (choose your own toppings, obviously). Afterwards we’ll have a relaxed evening with games, so everyone can settle in and get to know each other.
Saturday
After a big buffet breakfast and making packed lunches, we’ll head out onto Ilkley Moor for a full day of exploring. If the weather’s kind, we’ll stop in a few beautiful spots to sketch. If drawing isn’t your thing, you can take photos, journal, or just enjoy some peaceful, mindful time outdoors.
Back at the house, there'll be time to relax in the hot tub or sauna before dinner, and then enjoy another chilled evening of games and chats. Or we might watch a film in the amazing cinema room.
Sunday
After breakfast, we’ll head to a different area for more walking, exploring, chatting and sketching. We’ll wrap up around 4pm, so everyone can travel home easily.
Myddelton Grange sits above the beautiful Wharfedale valley, with gorgeous views across to Ilkley Moor. Most rooms are ensuite, and you can have your own room or share with a friend. Ilkley is super easy to reach by train, and we encourage travelling that way if you can. We’ll arrange a shared taxi from the station to the accommodation (small extra cost). A kit list will be shared with you prior to the holiday, so you know what to bring with you.
