I wanted to organise some weekend trips over the summer to cover those of you who might not have time to go away for longer holidays or who are looking for something more adventurous! And then I discovered Champing.

Champing is the unique concept of camping overnight in historic churches, brought to the world by The Churches Conservation Trust, the national charity protecting historic churches at risk.

These are no frills holidays - there are no flushing toilets, hot drinks might be made on a camping stove, you'll have to make your own packed lunch and some of the churches don't even have electricity. But you get food and shelter and spend two days and nights with like-minded women on this unique adventure!

Beds and chairs are included - you just need to bring your own sleeping bag, pillow and blanket (there are upto 4 freshly laundered bedding sets which can be hired for each trip if you don't have them or don't want to bring them on the train). Oh, and shared taxis will be organised from the nearest train station as usual.

There are a number of churches involved across the country and initially I have chosen these one to trial during the summer of 2022, and if it all works out we can try some other ones!
