When: Sunday 27th September to Friday 2nd October 2020
Where: Glenthorne Guest House
Who: Helen Venus and Beth Pipe
What's included: Bed, breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal plus three and a half days guided walking
We'll be exploring the stunning Lake District National Park on this women only guided walking holiday, with a literary twist.
We'll be discovering why this part of the world inspired writers such as Beatrix Potter, William Wordsworth, John Ruskin, Arthur Ransome and Alfred Wainright, amongst others. We'll be visiting locations where they lived and wrote, and maybe will be inspired to write something ourselves.
We'll be joined by writer and blogger Beth Pipe (Cumbrian Rambler) who will take you through the creative process and there will also be a book club type element, where we can discuss a walking related book together. Also for the hardy amongst you, Suzanna might be available for a wild swimming adventure on one of the days and there is an opportunity for more canoeing on Coniston as everyone enjoyed that when we went to Borrowdale.
However, these are entirely optional if you are just interested in the walking!
We'll be keeping the ascent as minimal as possible (but of course, we are in a hilly area so it won't be flat by any means) with distances of 6 to 8 miles per day. To keep things fair, entrance to the houses and museums won't be included in the overall cost as people may have their own National Trust or English Heritage cards or may not be interested in this element of the holiday.
